Crestwicke offers an English as a Second Language program that is designed to meet the specific needs of each student. The goal of the ESL program at CCA is to assist students in academic competence by developing appropriate language use.
A certified ESL teacher provides individual opportunities for practice and reinforcement of language skills. Students are able to participate in the cultural and social activities of the school and the community. Social communication, reading and writing skills are taught. To read and comprehend language and information in textbooks enables students to participate successfully in a mainstream classroom. Content subject areas require students to have a good understanding in academic vocabulary skills.
To write and communicate ideas with correct grammatical construction and proper vocabulary increases a student's fluency in English. Reading, writing, listening, and verbal skills of English complement one another and therefore add to a student's confidence and success in the classroom. There is an additional cost for this program.
