Mission Statement and History
The mission of Crestwicke Christian Academy is to minister to families by providing a nurturing educational environment that stresses academic excellence and Christ-centred values.
Crestwicke Christian Academy is a separately incorporated non-profit corporation that carries on its ministry in conjunction with that of Crestwicke Baptist Church.
The idea of a Christian school began when a group of parents attending Crestwicke Baptist Church became concerned about the spiritual development of their children and wished to start an alternative to public education. In 1974, the doors opened to 99 students.
The original purpose was the education of Crestwicke’s own children, but it soon became a community-based outreach with numerous churches being represented. Enrollment fluctuated in the early years, but God continued to bless the dedicated families and staff.
By 1993, the Academy was bulging at the seams, with some students located in portables and a second campus. The search for a new building concluded with the move to the old YMCA building in 1996. Renovations to the new location continued to accommodate the growth of the school in 2006/2007. Once again, God blessed Crestwicke Christian Academy with enough students to fill its building.
Today Crestwicke serves families from more than 39 churches in Guelph and the surrounding area. We have continued with our original mission but have continued to develop and embrace new innovative teaching techniques as well as new technology.
From the sciences to the arts, from the classroom to the playground, from the gym to the sports field, every part of the Crestwicke experience is designed to build confidence and character, instill values, assist children in their spiritual walk, and equip them for leadership and service.
