Welcome to STEAM Camp: Plugged In

Plugged In is a five-day STEAM camp where your kids will have fun learning through
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!

With experiments, games, and arts projects, we'll explore the wonders of God’s creation.
This year we will be experiencing God’s power!

Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
— Jeremiah 32:17

Why A STEAM Camp?

STEAM or Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math are all key elements of many of the upcoming jobs in our workforce. At Crestwicke, we want to empower and inspire today’s youth with the tools they need to succeed in life while helping them to understand how God’s hand plays a role in all of it.

At our STEAM Camp this year, your kids will…

  • Discover the Science behind energy and power, exploring electricity, motion, light, and heat, from exploding reactions and glowing circuits to the unstoppable force of motion all the while learning about the Creator of it all whose power is limitless;

  • Learn how we can use Technology and Engineering to generate and harness energy, discovering the incredible resources God has placed in creation — from the power of the sun and wind to the strength found in simple machines;

  • Use Math to explore the measurable laws that reveal order in creation;

  • And through the Arts, unleash their creativity to express the brilliance and strength of God’s incredible power.

FAQ

Is food provided?

Due to many children with various dietary requirements, you will need to pack your child(ren)’s own nut-free lunch and a snack. Also, please ensure your child has their own labeled water bottle; there will be filling stations available.

How should my child dress?

We will be active both inside and (weather permitting) outside. Your child(ren) will also be participating in various activities, some of which can be messy (i.e. painting, tye dye etc.) so please dress your child with that in mind.

Packing sunscreen, hats, etc. is recommended.

What will a typical day look like?

Every day we will start as a big group in the Auditorium where we will talk about the theme for the day, play games, sing songs etc. Then the kids will be split into smaller groups; these are the groups they will be with for the rest of the week.

In these smaller groups they will rotate through three different stations: STEM activity/talk, art, and games/sports. After, we will all meet back in the Auditorium, then head outside for pickup.

My child's friend will be attending. How can I make sure they are in the same group?

We will be dividing groups by grade, so if they are in the same grade there is a good chance (but no guarantee) that they will be in the same group. However, when you register for camp, you can leave a note in the comments section and we will take these into consideration as best we can.

My child is in a lower/higher grade than the grade range listed. Can an exception be made for them to join so they can attend camp with their sibling/friend?

We unfortunately do not have capacity for kids younger or older than the listed grades.
